CoppercoatTM is the obvious choice for owners searching for increased performance with reduced costs.
After application and upon immersion, sea water attacks the exposed pure copper powder, causing the formation of cuprous oxide. This highly effective antifouling agent deters growth until the surface degrades further to become cupric hydrochloride. This final copper form is highly unstable, and is washed away by the movement of the yacht, thereby removing any accumulating silt or slime. This automatically reveals a fresh copper rich surface, whereby the process recommences.
With an average thickness of at least 200 microns of CoppercoatTM marine antifoul being applied in a treatment, and a typical corrosion rate of 5 microns per year, it is easy to appreciate how this coating offers such long lasting and effective protection. During 2001, Yachting Monthly reported on a yacht that had been treated some 8 years previously. The verdict? “A great success”.
Furthermore, the inherent waterproofing qualities of the epoxy ensure that a treatment of CoppercoatTM marine antifoul will help prevent osmosis in GRP craft and offer extra protection against corrosion in steel vessels.
With the resin carrier insulating each copper sphere, the final coating is inert and non conductive. Consequently CoppercoatTM marine antifoul does not cause electrolysis problems or cathodic decay in steel or aluminium craft. Sacrificial anodes should be fitted in the usual manner.

The New Science of Marine Coatings
HIGH PERFORMANCE WATERBASED COPPER ABLATIVE ANTIFOULING
A water based antifoul called Aquashield™, this antifoul provides multi season antifouling protection against barnacles, algae and hydroids in salt and fresh water on boat bottoms only. Its ablative copolymer base renders a smooth finish with durability and abrasion resistance.
Aquashield™ releases biocide by the constant exposure of new paint film to the water. Aquashield™ has universal application over all types of properly prepared bottom paints (except aluminium). For use on fast fibreglass boats, as well as wood and steel hulls.
Surface Preparation: Surface must always be clean, dry and properly prepared prior to painting. Failure to do so will lead to eventually blistering and/or peeling. All sanded surfaces must be wiped clean to remove all traces of sanding dust.
General Application: For use on boats below the true waterline. Can be brushed or rolled on fibreglass, wood, steel and previously painted surfaces per application systems below.
Do not use on aluminium.
Apply at least 2 coats for best performance, as the life of the paint is proportional to the number of coats applied.
Mixing and Thinning: Shake or mix thoroughly and stir continuously while using. Thin when necessary with clean water.
Theoretical Coverage: Depending on surface conditions, one gallon of bottom paint will usually cover over 400 square feet of surface when brushed or rolled.
Clean Up: Use clean water for cleaning equipment and paint brushes.
Estimated Dry Times: Aquashield™ can be over coated after 3-4 hours at 25 degrees C.
Prior to launching, allow a minimum dry of overnight. If drying conditions are poor, or if paint was applied too thickly, longer periods of drying will be required. Fresh coats of paint must be thoroughly dry before over coating.

Add More Power to Your Antifoul
Say C U to fouling with Copper Boost
Copper Boost is a pure copper powder which can be added to any and all copper-based antifouling paints, solvent or water based.
Most antifouls only have about 30% copper in them now and they have become really ineffective.
By adding this powder to the antifoul you can effectively create 60% to 70% copper content in the paint. We suggest you add at least a 500g pack to 3 x 4ltr tins of antifoul. A member of our team has put some on his own boat, and three months later there is not one barnacle on it when it would normally be covered.
When he does it again he will add a 1kg pack to the same amount of paint to make it even more effective.
